Abandoned since 1970, this 1920s farmhouse east of Tavira sat empty among olive and almond groves until owners Rui Liberato de Sousa and Nuno Ramos brought in Atelier Rua to bring it back as a six-room countryside guesthouse. Three rooms sit in the original farmhouse and three in new contemporary units, all sharing whitewashed walls, smooth concrete floors and traditional reed ceilings, dressed with handwoven woollen plaids and vintage finds. A heated pool with generous sunbeds, a fireside library and a shaded terrace give guests plenty of reasons to stay put, though a Vespa and a Spider are on hand for those who'd rather explore the dry Algarve countryside. Breakfast leans on whatever is freshest that morning, served without fuss.
