MeeHotel takes its cue from its own nickname, "Bamboo Forest," and builds an entire hotel around that one material. Hong Kong-based Panorama Design Group worked with a traditional bamboo weaver to construct full-height screens across the lobby, casting shifting shadows over walls finished in natural diatomaceous clay. The effect continues up through double-height corridors lined with bamboo before guests even reach their rooms, where bamboo and rattan headboards repeat the pattern in different scales. At the top of the building, the Sky Café sits inside a cathedral-ceilinged bamboo structure lit by a skylight during the day and suspended LEDs after dark, giving this fast-paced city a genuinely calming place to land.
