In Frankfurt's up-and-coming Gallus district, once known mainly for its warehouses, Gekko House takes the neighbourhood's industrial edge and runs with it. A Marriott Tribute Portfolio property designed by local firm Morgan Interiors, its 128 rooms pair exposed concrete and herringbone oak with velvet seating, hand-blown glass and touches of green that push back against the raw backdrop. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surrounding skyline, and rain-shower bathrooms come stocked with organic Grown Alchemist products. Downstairs, the Berlin-born Chicago Williams restaurant serves barbecue and German beer, a spati-style boutique sells local snacks and souvenirs, and the eighth-floor Chicago Beach rooftop bar delivers the view that ties the whole concept together.
