Named after a lake in Sweden, Tuve brings a distinctly Scandinavian restraint to Hong Kong's Tai Hang district. Local studio Design Systems wrapped the building in unmarked black bronze and filled the interior with raw, tactile materials, oxidised metal, flecked marble, textured concrete and oak, arranged around a strict "less is more" philosophy. Just three of the 66 rooms sit on each floor, connected by stark white corridors, and every bathroom pairs opaque glass with full marble cladding. There's no breakfast and no communal lounge by design; the hotel describes itself as wanting to be timeless and placeless. Downstairs, Superhooman restaurant serves an Italian-Japanese menu for lunch and dinner, a short walk from Causeway Bay's energy.
