Mònica and Raül left the pace of the Costa Brava behind to restore this abandoned eighteenth-century mansion in Grañón, a small village in La Rioja wine country. Studios Francesc Rifé and Blur Arquitectura kept the original ashlar stonework and updated the windows with black iron frames, while eleven rooms across the upper floors mix stone masonry and oak flooring with custom black poplar furniture and pieces by Carl Hansen & Son. Six second-floor suites add high ceilings and exposed beams, some with window desks looking over the rooftops. Downstairs, a library, lounge and a restaurant built around a backlit glass wine cellar serve traditional Rioja cooking, and a Hay-furnished terrace rounds out a stay built for slowing down.
