A short walk from Byron Bay's main beach, former Sydneysiders Kim Amos and Steve Eakin spent five years turning a cluster of bayside cottages into the Atlantic, a Caribbean- and surf-inspired hideaway opened in 2012. Four white-timber cottages and a vintage American Airstream sit among tropical gardens, linked by wooden walkways, with rooms ranging from the spacious Albatross suites to the surf-shack Cabana rooms and a West Elm-designed bungalow in navy and white. Every room has its own bathroom stocked with Grown Alchemist products. Outside, a pool, a central fire pit and complimentary bikes, surfboards and beach towels keep things easy-going, in keeping with the laid-back luxury the Atlantic has built its name on.
